Buchu Betulina History
Buchu is a small evergreen shrub belonging to the Rutaceae family.
It bears white, star-like flowers. The essential oil is extracted from its small, 1cm long leaves by steam distillation.
Buchu is a native South African plant and was traditionally used by the indigenous Khoi-San who mixed the leaves with sheep fat as an ointment. Later the plant raised European’s interest for perfumery/fragrance application.
Method of use
Pilani refers to ancient African traditions by recommending Buchu Betulina as an essential oil. Due to the highly concentrated form of Buchu essential oil, this product is mainly sold to professionals such as pharmacists, aromatherapists and cosmetic institutes.
Buchu essential oil is for external use only and must be diluted at 3% or less in vegetal oil.

Recommended dosage : 3 drops for 50 ml of vegetal oil

3 drops for 50 ml of vegetal oil for massage, or 3 drops in your foot bath. Buchu Betulina can be diluted in any vegetal oil for cosmetic use.
Storage / Handling
Store product in a cool, well ventilated area and protected from light.

Do not bring the concentrated product in direct contact with skin or with eyes.
Do not swallow. Keep out of reach of children.
Waste must be disposed in accordance with local environmental control regulations : Call your local community unit for waste disposal of hazardous waste or send product overlefts to Pilani.
